GOLDEN State Warriors forward Draymond Green got an unexpected scare during his offseason visit to China when a large lion-head goose approached him from behind.
Green was dining outdoors in Shantou, surrounded by fans, when the bird suddenly appeared near his table.
Caught off guard, the four-time NBA champion immediately jumped from his seat and backed away while shouting, “Oh s–t! No! No!”
The crowd responded with laughter as Green tried to put some distance between himself and the goose. He eventually relaxed and laughed off the incident.
The bird that startled Green was a lion-head goose, also known as a Shitou goose, a breed native to the Chaoshan region of Guangdong province.
The breed can weigh up to around 26 pounds and is recognized for its large size, distinctive head growth and loose skin beneath its throat. Lion-head geese are also known for their loud calls and territorial behavior.
Green was in Shantou as part of his offseason China tour, which included meeting fans, producing content and experiencing local food and culture.
Despite his willingness to stand his ground against NBA opponents, officials and even the league, Green quickly retreated when the roughly 25-pound goose caught him by surprise. (Adrian Co)
