Yet another NBA superstar has withdrawn from participation in the 2023 FIBA World Cup.
Giannis Antetokounmpo has declined to participate with the Greece men’s basketball team, citing his incomplete recovery from injury.
“Giannis Antetokounmpo will not compete in the FIBA World Cup. He’s still not fully recovered medically to compete at the level he needs to, he cited.,” according to a tweet by the NBA on ESPN.

Antetokounmpo joined the growing list of NBA stars who begged off the FIBA World Cup, aside from Serbia’s Nikola Jokić, Japan’s Rui Hachimura, and Victor Wembanyama of France.
Greece is bracketed with the United States, New Zealand, and Jordan and will play their group stage game at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
