Green Archers thwart UE
The De La Salle Green Archers powered UE Red Warriors, 79-59, in the UAAP Season 81 men’s basketball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena on Wednesday, October 17.
UE tried to cut the lead by as much as three, 49-46, but that was the last time that they put on a fight once the Green Archers put up a 17-3 surge to end the period, 66-49.
La Salle made sure that the Red Warriors would never recover, leading by as much as 22 with a minute left in the final frame, 79-57.
“Siyempre, we respect UE. Kahit sino ang kalaban namin, we need to put on the work in kasi every win counts,” said La Salle head coach Louie Gonzales.
Encho Serrano had a breakout performance with his career-high 18 points, to go along with six rebounds. Andrei Caracut collected 16 points and six rebounds, while Justin Baltazar and Santi Santillan tallied combined 25 markers and 14 boards.
La Salle won five of their eight outings to force a tie with FEU Tamaraws at the third spot.
For the struggling UE, Alvin Pasaol once again carried the team with his 22 points and 17 rebounds.
UE currently sits at the bottom of the standings with 1-7 win-loss card.
