Green Archers thwart UST by 41

The De La Salle Green Archers disgruntled UST Growling Tigers by 41 points, 110-69, in the UAAP Season 81 men’s basketball tournament at the Ynares Center, Saturday, November 3.

La Salle already controlled the game from the first half, even owning a 27-8 start in the first six minutes of the game.

Second half was even worse for UST, as they were just limited to nine points compared to La Salle’s 34, and this was the momentum that the latter needed in order to seal the win.

“Tulad ng sinabi ko sa mga bata, it is a result of a good practice for the whole week,” said La Salle head coach Louie Gonzales.

Six players from Green Archers scored double-digits led by Aljun Melecio who had 22 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the three-point line.

Mark Dyke had a breakout game of 16 points and six rebounds, followed by Andrei Caracut who had 15 markers.

Jolo Go also contributed 14 for La Salle, while Justine Baltazar and Encho Serrano added 13 apiece.

La Salle secured the third spot with their win at 7-4 win-loss card.

Meanwhile, UST head coach Aldim Ayo just suffered his worst loss of his coaching career, via a 41-point blowout.

Marvin Lee paced Tigers with 26 points, while CJ Cansino provided 14 points and nine rebounds.

UST fell down to a 5-6 record, although they are still standing at the fourth spot alongside UP Fighting Maroons.
