Guiao meets Gilas mainstays in the lead up of World Cup preps
By Miles Morales
Gilas Pilipinas coach Yeng Guiao had a brief talk with his pool for the national team’s campaign in the upcoming 2019 Fiba World Cup in China.
Guiao basically met the same players he tapped for the sixth window when Gilas punched a ticket to the World Cup.

Present during the meeting were mainstays Jayson Castro, June Mar Fajardo, and Gabe Norwood, as well as Troy Rosario, Paul Lee, Marcio Lassiter, Mark Barroca, Roger Pogoy, Poy Erram, and Raymond Almazan.
Only Ginebra standouts Japeth Aguilar and Scottie Thompson missed the session.
Naturalized player Andray Blatche is set to arrive on July 8, while Thirdy Ravena has been dropped owing to his obligations with the Ateneo Blue Eagles for the upcoming UAAP Season 82.
The Philippines is the heavy underdogs when it sees action at Foshan International Sports and Cultural Center in Shenzhen in August.
Olympic silver medalist Serbia, European contender Italy, and Afrobasket champion Angola stand in the way of the Filipinos’ bid to progress past pool play in Group D.
Only the top two teams in each group will advance to the next phase.
