Gulantang! Alaska Management Suprised With Vic Manuel’s Trade Demand
The team management of Alaska Aces were caught by surprise with veteran forward Vic Manuel’s demand to be traded, which came out on Spin.ph on Friday.
Dickie Bachmann, Alaska’s representative to the PBA Board, denied that they only offered Manuel a one-year extension as he said the Aces management offered him a two-year, maximum deal.
“We’re shocked. We offered a two-year, max deal with a clause in his second year,” Bachmann said in an interview with Rey Joble of PBA Rush on Friday night.
“The best thing he and his agent could have done is to talk to the management or coach first before coming out with an article,” he added.
Bachmann, however, said that Alaska management will continuously reach out to Manuel to know his plans and will be willing to trade him if no agreement will be reached.
“Just like kapag may problema siya sa family or pera, lumalapit muna siya sa amin,” said Bachmann. “We’ll talk to Vic and Coach Jeffrey (Cariaso) is going to talk to him as well tonight.”
“So far, we offered a two-year max contract deal with a clause and waiting for the agent and Vic to get back to us,” he added. “We cannot force naman a player who doesn’t want to play for us. We would like to know so we can all move forward.”
