Gutsy Mazel Paris finishes 5th in Asiad Women’s Park Final

Twelve-year-old Mazel Paris delivered a gutsy performance against older and more experienced competition, finishing fifth in the Women’s Park Final at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.

Paris steadily improved throughout the final, scoring 70.81 in her opening run before raising her mark to 80.19 in Run 2.

A slip in her third attempt resulted in a score of just 1.67, but Paris bounced back in her final run with her best mark of the competition at 80.65 points.

That effort put Paris within striking distance of the podium before China’s Cao Shiqi, also 12, moved ahead with an 81.23 on her final run to claim fourth place.

Japan’s Mizuho Hasegawa, 15, dominated the final to capture gold with 94.03 points, while Chinese Taipei’s Lin Yi-fan, 14, took silver with 85.15.

Japan’s Misugu Okamoto, 20, completed the podium with 82.86.

Despite missing the podium, Paris stood her ground against some of Asia’s best skaters and capped her Asian Games debut with a strong fifth-place finish at just 12 years old. (Jesus Nathaniel Valdez)
