‘Hail Mary’ shot to snatch Christian Standhardinger? TNT plots to oust PBA Commissioner Narvasa
Desperate times call for desperate measures.
TNT is not giving up on getting Filipino-German basketball sensation Christian Standhardinger as it mounts a coup to unseat PBA Commissioner Chito Narvasa in a last-ditch attempt to overturn the Kia Picanto-San Miguel Beermen swap.
The Philippine Star reported that TNT was able to gather six other PBA teams in an emergency meeting Monday to decide on the fate of Narvasa whose three-year term ended last week. Aside from its sister teams, Meralco and NLEX, TNT managed to get Alaska Milk, Phoenix Petroleum, Rain or Shine and Blackwater.
Absent from the meeting were SMB, Ginebra Kings, Star Hotshots, Globalport Batang Pier and Kia Picanto.
TNT needs another team on its side to meet the mandatory two-thirds vote of the 12-member board to kick out Narvasa.
The PBA board is scheduled to to have an exit meeting on Thursday, Nov. 2, where the fate of Narvasa will likely be tackled.
Under its bylaws, the PBA board can terminate at any time the term of office of the commissioner by a two-thirds vote of all members in an official meeting
