SENATOR Pia Cayetano said she traveled to Singapore to support the Philippine National Padel Team competing in the Asia Pacific Padel Tour Grand Slam Singapore and not to hide from legal or political issues.
In a Facebook Live posted on Friday, the founder and president of Padel Pilipinas explained that her trip was primarily intended to show support for Filipino athletes.
Padel Pilipinas is the official national governing body for the sport in the country.
“Ang sadya ko ay mag-support ng athletes,” Cayetano said, addressing questions surrounding her presence in Singapore.
She also appeared to respond to criticism over the trip, saying that some people were creating stories and attaching malicious interpretations to her visit.
“Yun nga lang ’yung mga walang magawa sa buhay, ginawa na ng kuwento, nalagyan pa ng malisya,” she added.
Cayetano shared footage from a padel venue in Singapore and posted photos with members of the Philippine team.
“Wala hong reason para magtago,” Cayetano concluded her video.
Her update came after reports circulated online about her trip, with some posts also mistakenly or confusingly linking the issue to Senator Alan Peter Cayetano. (Adrian Co)
