Australia’s Jeff Horn still believes that he did win the highly controversial match with Manny Pacquiao in a WBO welterweight title fight in Brisbane six years ago.
Horn, who recently announced his retirement from boxing, told Sky News Australia that the upset decision win against Pacquiao served as one of the highs of his career.
“That’s definitely the highlight of my career when they announce ‘And new,’ Horn said. “That gives me chills, even saying it now.”
“It brings me back to that moment in front of fifty thousand plus spectators here and millions watching worldwide.”
He was supposed to take on Pacquiao in a rematch, but the Filipino pulled out. Horn went on to win three more fights while losing to Australian Michael Zerafa and American Terence Crawford.
His last bout was a defeat at the hands of now-interim WBO super welterweight champion Tim Tszyu nearly three years ago.
Horn said he has decided to leave the sport due to memory issues that might have been caused by too many hits to the head.
“To be honest, I’ve had my concerns. I’ve had some issues with my memory.
“I’ve had some tests done on my brain, and I was told if I kept going, there was a high potential risk of things getting worse and my brain suffering more.”
