Horn is ‘Clear and Present Danger’ for Pacquiao
Fight promoter Bob Arum insists Jeff Horn is not only a deserving challenger but could also be a tough customer for world welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao.
“What you’ll see in Jeff is a really strong welterweight. He is physically very, very strong and he is also moves well, takes a great punch because (Ali) Funeka once knocked him down but he got up and knocked out Funeka,” said Arum.
In his last fight held December of last year in New Zealand, Horn recovered from a third round knockdown to stop an ageing 39-year-old Funeka in the 6th canto of their 12-round WBO regional welterweight battle.
“He presents a threat because of his youth and because of his ability to throw that right hook,” added Arum.
This is the reason why Arum has warned Pacquiao not to take Horn lightly, something which Horn’s compatriot and Australian boxing icon Jeff Fenech wants to impart to the Filipino star.
“Manny hasn’t knocked out someone in quite a few years, Manny has got to be at his best to beat this boy. He’s a young man, very hungry,” said Fenech “If Jeff Horns wants to win this fight he’s got to be so close to Manny. Manny’s got great eyes, great vision great speed and he’s got power.”
Pacquiao will stake his WBO world welterweight crown against Horn in front of an estimated 55,000 paying fans at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Australia.
