It’s Sayang! Tim Cone shares regret on Simon, Baguio’s retirement due to COVID-19 pandemic
Ginebra head coach Tim Cone thinks that two of PBA’s premiere guards PJ Simon and Cyrus Baguio should have at least played their last year before hanging up their jerseys, if it wasn’t for the COVID-19 pandemic.
The winningest PBA coach took on Twitter to express his thoughts about Simon and Baguio’s retirement, both of which played under Cone.
“It’s sayang that players like PJ and Cyrus didn’t have a chance to play their last year because of the pandemic and not be able to feel their fan’s appreciation on the court,” he tweeted.
“I loved those two and I hope they know my appreciation!!”
Simon, who announced his retirement before the start of PBA Philippine Cup Bubble, played for Cone back in Purefoods where they captured the rare grand slam trophy in 2014 season.
On the other hand, Baguio also played under cone back in Alaska where they won the 2010 Fiesta Conference.
