James Yap out for two weeks due to groin injury
Rain or Shine coach Caloy Garcia confirmed James Yap hurt his groin anew during the Painters’ 69-68 loss to Magnolia in a PBA Governors Cup game last week.
Garcia said the 37-year-old two-time MVP will be out for at least two weeks.
Yap reportedly sustained the injury in the second quarter after hitting a shot off Magnolia import Romeo Travis.
The veteran forward momentarily stopped after feeling some pain in his groin following the play. He hobbled downcourt before being taken out of the game.
By halftime, Garcia was told Yap couldn’t play anymore.
Yap already suffered the same injury during the previous conference when he missed the latter part of the eliminations and the entire playoffs, where the Elasto Painters reached as far as the semifinals.
The Painters had lost two in a row for a 1-3 record in a tie with NorthPort for ninth to 10th places.
