Jamike Jarin, gets one of Aldin Ayo

It is not just the National University Bulldogs that barged into the win column as they defeated the University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers, 75-70, in the UAAP Season 81 men’s basketball tournament.

Bulldogs head coach Jamike Jarin also notched his first win against Growling Tigers head coach Aldin Ayo in the UAAP.

“It’s good to know that you reminded me,” Jarin said. “We just played in NCAA and we’re here in the UAAP.”

Jarin also praised Ayo, saying that he is “a good coach.”

“He’s a very good coach,” Jarin added. “I need to give credit to UST especially to its coaching staff led by coach Aldin Ayo because we had [17] point lead then all of the sudden they just kept on coming back.”

But Ayo also praised Jarin, telling reporters that he adjusted his system.

“Coach Jamike [Jarin] is a good coach. Tested na rin siya eh, he has adjusted also dun sa system niya,” Ayo said.

The history of the two coaches can be traced way back in 2015 when Ayo’s Colegio de San Juan de Letran Knights bested Jarin’s San Beda Red Lions to bring home the championship.

Ayo then transfered to La Salle the following year while Jarin followed suit a year later.
