Jarvey Gayoso leaves Ateneo to turn pro
After 8 successful years with Ateneo, rising football star Jarvey Gayoso decided to skip his final playing year in UAAP.
The star booter took on Instagram to announce that he will be leaving Katipunan for him to take his talent at the pro level in the upcoming Philippine Football Legaue (PFL), as well playing football overseas.
“Although this was a tough decision to make, ultimately I had to choose what I believe would be what’s best for me and my future,” Gayoso wrote.
“After my stint at this year’s Southeast Asian games, God blessed me with an opportunity to play professional football overseas.”
Gayoso won two UAAP titles with the Blue Eagles, as well as UAAP’s Best Striker three times.
The son of PBA player Jayvee Gayoso also made his Azkals debut in 2018, and he also competed with fellow U22 booters in the recently-concluded 2019 Southeast Asian Games.
“The Ateneo and the Ateneo Men’s football team have prepared me well enough for my next step. I know the team will continue to represent the Ateneo name with the highest honor.”
