Despite securing a straight-set victory over the Enderun College Lady Titans at the commencement of the V-League Women’s Collegiate Conference, University of the East Lady Warriors rookie Jelaica Galejo remains convinced that her team has room for improvement.
As per the Naga City-native player, the Lady Warriors have identified several shortcomings in their V-League debut and are eager to rectify them before facing tougher opponents.
“Personally, I believe I didn’t perform as well as we had practiced before. There’s still room for improvement. We won, but it was still lacking,” Gajero, a rookie out of California Academy, mentioned during the post-game interview.
“And as a team, I think we can do even better. We have several shortcomings in basic aspects, like the first ball and our service. It’s more about mental lapses,” she added.
Gajero acknowledged the pressure on herself and her fellow Lady Warriors rookies, including Kizzie Madriaga, Casiey Dongallo, and Grace Fernandez, particularly due to their promising performances in high school.
“For me, we’re putting in a lot of effort because people have high expectations of us, especially considering our past achievements,” Gajero said. “Personally, that motivation drives me to elevate my game.”
“We understand that as the league progresses, the teams we’ll face will become more competitive. So, we have to prepare not only physically but also mentally,” she added.
