Creamline Cool Smashers setter Julia Morado-de Guzman fulfilled her promise of donating 12 pairs of shoes to the barefoot volleyball players of the Malitbog Elementary School volleyball team in Calinog, Iloilo.
On the morning of Good Friday, Morado-de Guzman and her husband Miguel personally delivered the shoes to Rodolfo Go Villaruz, the founder of Gametime Sports, in Iloilo City.
On Black Saturday, Villaruz informed FastBreak that they will be promptly distributing the shoes to the members of Malitbog Elementary School, along with sports bags purchased using the cash donations they received.
“It was such a nice gesture by Jia, they came here to drop the shoes,” Villaruz said. “We will immediately bring them to the team along with the sports bags that we were able to purchase.”
The Malitbog Elementary School volleyball team went viral after winning the recently concluded Division of Iloilo Sports Council Meet 2023 despite its players being shoeless.
The team will represent the Province of Iloilo in the upcoming Inter-Division Meet next month.
