Former NBA player Grant Hill said that it is still possible for Joel Embiid to represent Team USA in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Embiid holds citizenship in the US and France, and Hill is trying his best to convince the reigning NBA MVP to play for the US.
Joel Embiid is an incredible talent, and he has options,” Hill said in an interview with NBA insider Marc Stein. “And I guess that’s a good thing. I’ll just say this: I’ve had some discussions with him, and he knows our desire to have him a part of our program. So we’ll see sort of where that goes.”
The Americans defeated the French in the gold medal game of the Tokyo Olympics by just five points. If France manages to secure Embiid’s services, they might dethrone the US in the quadrennial meet.
The Philadelphia center averaged 33.1 points, 10.2 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.7 blocks per game in the 2022–2023 NBA season. These numbers propelled him to win his first MVP award. (MJD)
