Johnny Manahan compares Ricci Rivero to young Joey Marquez

Ricci Rivero doesn’t only have a bright future in the hardcourt, but also in show business.

According to talent manager Johnny Manahan, famously known as “Mr. M”, the 22-year old reminded him of another former-athlete-turned-actor.

That’s none other than Joey Marquez.

“It’s like [a] bookend. The beginning of the career of Joey Marquez, 30, 40 years ago? Now it’s this fellow, Ricci Rivero. You know, after two shows, ‘Uy, si Joey ito a! Walanghiya siya e!’ He’s so confident. And if we had kept it up, he’d be something in showbiz,” said Manahan to SPIN Life.

Before making a mark in Philippine showbiz, Marquez had a seven-year stint in the PBA.

The UP Fighting Maroon swingman first tried had an acting stint in a horror film called “OTLUM”, and was last recently seen in TV5’s noontime show “Sunday Noontime Live”.

Mr. M flourished Marquez’s career since his big break in his directed-sitcom “Palibhasa Lalalake”, and he knows that Rivero will also be a promising star in showbiz.

“Ricci Rivero, he has it,” said Manahan.
