Jordan Clarkson expresses desire to suit up for Gilas in FIBA World Cup 2023
Utah Jazz guard Jordan Clarkson wants to suit up for Gilas Pilipinas again in 2023 FIBA World Cup, which will be co-hosted by Philippines, as well as Japan and Indonesia.
In an article written by the New York Times, it was revealed that Clarkson would love to play for Philippines for the second time after he represented the national team in the 2018 Asian Games.
‘Clarkson plans to return to Gilas Pilipinas in 2023, he said, when the team takes part in Olympic qualifying competitions, including the World Cup, which the Philippines is co-hosting,” Scott Cacciola wrote on his piece revolving around Clarkson and his Filipino fans.
The only problem is that the NBA’s frontrunner for the Sixth Man of the Year is that he is only eligible to play in FIBA tournaments as a naturalized player, despite acquiring a Philippine passport before he turned 16.
Regardless, Clarkson is hoping that he could play in FIBA as a local.
“I think that’s the big thing that’s being figured out right now,” Clarkson said.
