Jordan Clarkson eyes another FIBA World Cup stint with Gilas Pilipinas

NEW York Knicks guard Jordan Clarkson is hoping to make another appearance for Gilas Pilipinas in the FIBA World Cup if the Philippines secures a spot in the tournament.

The Filipino-American NBA star revealed his plans in an interview with GQ Philippines, saying another World Cup stint remains one of his goals while representing the country.

“Another World Cup is coming up, and I want to be there,” Clarkson said.

Clarkson previously played for the Philippines in the 2018 Asian Games and the 2023 FIBA World Cup.

He also shared that wearing the national colors carries a personal meaning, as it allows him to honor his late grandmother.

Clarkson hopes to see more Filipino-American players join him in representing the Philippines, particularly with Jalen Green and Dylan Harper now part of the NBA.

“There haven’t been so many Filipino Americans in the league, and Filipinos, period. So knowing that I get to represent that and kind of change the narrative in any way that I can, that’s what I’m trying to do,” he said.

Gilas Pilipinas is scheduled to resume its FIBA World Cup qualifying campaign in November. (Adrian Co)
