Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers extended its dominance in NCAA 3×3 basketball, capturing its third consecutive seniors’ title in Season 101 at its home court in Mandaluyong.
The Heavy Bombers outlasted the University of Perpetual Help System Altas, 15-14, in a tightly contested championship game.
JRU trailed 13-14 in the closing moments before transferee Lawrence Mangubat delivered the winning basket, draining a two-pointer with just two seconds remaining to complete the comeback victory.
Mangubat led the charge alongside Chris Hubilla and Jamhir Eligado, while teammate Justin Lozano missed the game due to injury.
In the juniors’ division, JRU also emerged victorious, with the Light Bombers defeating Arellano University, 21-13, in the finals. The team was composed of Lorenz Cinco, Jairus Armendez, John Lord Cruz, and Aethan Ruedas.
Lyceum of the Philippines University Pirates secured the seniors’ bronze medal after edging San Beda University Red Lions, 20-18.
In the juniors’ category, San Beda’s Red Cubs defeated De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde–La Salle Green Hills, 21-17, to claim third place. (AC)
