Despite a bad shooting night, Juami Tiongson managed to steer Terrafirma to an 85-72 upset win against San Miguel Beer in the PBA On Tour at the Filoil EcoOil Center in San Juan City on Sunday.
Tiongson scored a team-high 15 points and provided two crucial assists that led to the Beermen’s downfall.
His feeds to Ed Daquioag and Aldrech Ramos resulted in the duo’s own baskets that highlighted Terrafirma’s fiery 8-0 windup.
With the victory, they were able to improve to 4-6 and surpass their three-win total last season.
“(This win is) very big for us kasi we take it seriously. As we all know naman nasa bottom kami parati. We want to build our chemistry saka get our confidence going into the coming conference,” said Tiongson.
Daquioag came off the bench to finish with 13 points.
The loss dropped SMB to a 3-8 record.
Jericho Cruz’s 19 points and workhorse Rodney Brondial’s 19 points and 17 rebounds for the Beermen went to waste.
San Miguel was without its stars, who were either injured, on leave, or serving national duty for Gilas Pilipinas.
