Juan Gomez De Liaño vows to do better job in Game 2
UP were already closer to upset the defending champs in Game 1.
However, the Ateneo Blue Eagles asserted their experience down the stretch, as their 12-1 run in the final frame paved the way for them to dispatch the Fighting Maroons, 88-79, on Saturday.
For UP guard Juan Gomez De Liaño, it was Ateneo’s championship experience that halted their momentum throughout the game.
“It was more of experience. They were just used to playing in the Finals, and that’s their advantage,” said the younger Gomez De Liaño who had 17 points and eight rebounds.
Once again, the Fighting Maroons collapsed again during the clutch period — a weakness that lingered UP for the whole season.
Which is why the Season 81 Mythical team member vows to do a better job on both ends on the floor on Game 2 this Wednesday.
“I think, for our team, we should make and create a lot of better plays not just for me, but for everyone,” he stated.
