Julia Coronel, Galeries end 2-season partnership

JULIA Coronel’s two-season run with Galeries Tower has come to an end, with the PVL club announcing their separation on Tuesday.

The former third overall pick of the 2024 PVL Draft was among the team’s key figures since joining the league, serving as its primary setter and later taking on the role of captain.

Galeries Tower’s decision comes after the franchise selected Camilla “Lams” Lamina with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 draft.

Lamina had already formed a promising connection with the team during the PVL On Tour, giving Galeries Tower another option in organizing its offense.

With Coronel no longer part of the roster, the club is expected to rely on Lamina and Maji Mangulabnan in the setter position for the upcoming All-Filipino Conference, which opens on Oct. 10.

Coronel’s departure could also create opportunities for her to join another PVL team in need of a veteran playmaker before the new season gets underway. (Adrian Co)
