JULIANA Gomez saw her women’s epee campaign at the 2026 Asian Games come to an end in the round of 16 after losing to Singapore’s Elle Koh, 3-1, in Nagoya, Japan.
Gomez advanced to the knockout stage after putting together four wins in the pool phase despite opening her campaign with a 5-2 setback against Kazakhstan’s Vladislava Andreeva.
She recovered with victories over China’s Yang Jingwen, 5-2, Kyrgyzstan’s Akak Kanatovna Keneshova, 5-2, Jordan’s Dina Mansi, 5-4, and Japan’s Tamaki Terayama, 5-4.
The Filipino fencer then moved into the round of 16 by defeating Fawzia Alrefae, 15-8, in the Table of 32.
Her run, however, ended against Koh in the next round.
