June Mar, Japeth, Terrence ready to play with Jayson, Andray in FIBA qualifiers

Following a truce by warring PBA team owners, the Philippine national team has bared a 23-member pool for the FIBA World Cup qualifiers scheduled with its key players intact.

With the return of naturalized player Andray Blatche, the Philippine national team is expected to make a strong showing in the away game against Japan on Nov. 24 and home game against Chinese-Taipei on Nov. 27.

Fears that the board room brawl between team owners over the status of PBA Commissioner Chito Narvsa would spill over to the national team preparations were doused when the TNT and SMC blocs lived up to their commitments to make their players available for the games.

Aside from Blatche, the members of the Philippine team are:

June Mar Fajardo (San Miguel)
Von Pessumal (San Miguel)
Jio Jalalon (Purefoods)
Terrence Romeo (Globalport)
Japeth Aguilar (Ginebra)
Kevin Ferrer (Ginebra)
LA Revilla (Kia)
Russel Escoto (Kia)
Jayson Castro (TNT)
Troy Rosario (TNT)
RR Pogoy (TNT)
Kiefer Ravena (NLEX)
Kevin Alas (NLEX)
Amer Baser (Meralco)
Mike Tolomia (Meralco)
Allein Maliksi (Blackwater)
Mac Belo (Blackwater)
Matthew Wright (Phoenix)
Calvin Abueva (Alaska)
Carl Bryant Cruz (Alaska)
Raymund Almazan (Rain or Shine)
Gabe Norwood (Rain or Shine)

The team held its first training day Friday with 13 players in attendance including Fajardo and Aguilar.
