Junemar Fajardo offers SEA Games sucess as birthday gift to family
Junemar Fajardo is playing inspired basketball right now in this year’s SEA Games.
And it showed when Vietnam’s defense couldn’t do anything to solve “The Krakken’s” dominance inside the paint.
“Always [inspired] naman kapag naglalaro ako kaya nandito ako para sa pamilya ko — sa mama ko, papa ko, at sa kapatid ko. So sila yung dahilan kung bakit nandito ako,” said Fajardo who tallied 21 points and 12 rebounds in just 15 minutes of action.
Why would he not be inspired to play? The PBA five-time MVP just recently celebrated his mom and brother’s birthday this past week.
“Belated happy birthday sa mama ko, sa kapatid ko, tsaka mag-birthday papa ko sa (December) 18,” he greeted.
Which is why the Cebuano native is looking forward to come home with his family to celebrate all of their birthdays right after the SEA Games.
“Kaya uuwi agad ako after ng SEA Games para mag-spend time sa family ko. Then ayun icecelebrate na namin yung birthday ng papa ko, mama ko, kapatid ko, at tsaka ako rin,” he shared.
Which is why Fajardo and the rest of the Gilas crew are determined to take home the gold in their native soil once and for all.
If that happens, he will surely offer his gold medal as a gift to his lovely family.
“Kaming lahat gusto namin manalo. One game at a time, so bukas practice kami at paghahandaan ang kalaban namin (Indonesia). Ayun apat na araw na lang, huwag lang makapante at kaya naman natin,” Fajardo said.
