Justin Arana eager to prove he deserves a spot in Gilas

Justin Arana practicing hard during a Gilas Pilipinas training session to prove he deserves a spot on the national team.

Justin Arana knows exactly what is at stake as he begins his journey with Gilas Pilipinas.

The Converge FiberXers big man expressed his gratitude after getting the opportunity to join the national team pool, saying he is ready to work hard for a possible spot in the squad for the upcoming Asian Games.

“Sobrang thankful ako. It’s a big honor for me talaga na mapasama doon.

The 6-foot-7 forward-center said there will be no shortcuts in his preparation as he looks to prove that he belongs on the international stage.

Arana, however, is also fully aware of the challenge that awaits him.

A physical presence in the PBA, Arana admitted that the competition becomes much tougher once he steps onto the international stage, where he will be facing significantly bigger opponents.

Arana has already joined Gilas Pilipinas training as head coach Tim Cone continues to evaluate his options for the upcoming FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 Asian Qualifiers and the Asian Games.

Now, the Converge standout is determined to make the most of his opportunity and will prove that despite being undersized internationally, he can still contribute to the country’s campaign.

For Arana, wearing the Philippine colors is motivation enough to give everything he has. (Jesus Nathaniel Valdez)
