Justin Brownlee will not join Gilas Pilipinas for its upcoming pocket tournament in China.
According to a report from Spin.ph, Brownlee will rest as he is nursing bone spurs on his foot.
The pocket tournament in China will be held from August 2 to 6. Gilas will face Iran, Lebanon, and Senegal in the five-day tourney.
In addition, the national team already announced that Brownlee will not be their naturalized player for the World Cup, and instead he will reinforce Gilas at the Asian Games in September.
“Hopefully, he’ll be ready and available come the Asian Games,” said Gilas assistant coach Jong Uichico.
“He will not be a part of the (World Cup) team, but he will be part of the pool of naturalized players,” he added.
Utah Jazz guard Jordan Clarkson will be Gilas’ naturalized player for the World Cup. (MJD)
