Kahit Tanders Na: Chris Ross believes that SMB will win more championships
Chris Ross finds it off that the media and fans are counting out the San Miguel Beermen because of their ‘aging’ roster.
In fact, the starting lineup of the Beermen consists of stars who are already at their 30s.
San Miguel head coach Leo Austria has considered revamping his old squad after failing to defend their five straight Philippine Cup title inside the PBA Bubble, but Ross isn’t impressed that they are being tagged as “old”.
“The media has been saying that for years now and we continue to win championships,” Ross said on SPIN Life.
“Less than a year ago we were playing to win a grand slam. And now, all of a sudden, in 10 months time, we are too old haha.”
To be fair, June Mar Fajardo and Matt Ganuelas-Rosser didn’t join the Beermen inside the bubble in Clark while Terrence Romeo succumbed to shoulder injury in just his first game.
Ross, 35, still believes that the SMB squad are still a championship contender despite being past their primes already.
“We are still very productive, and have a lot left in the tank,” he said. “We were one game away from first place in the eliminations and we played without June Mar and Terrence.”
“It’s just something for you guys to talk about and for us to use as fuel going forward.”
