Kai Sotto asks for understanding behind decision to not to rejoin Gilas in Asia Cup

Kai Sotto explained his decision to not rejoin Gilas Pilipinas in the upcoming FIBA Asia Cup this August.

The 7-foot-3 Filipino said that he has commitments with his team Adelaide 36ers, as they are about to begin their preparations for the 2021 NBL season.

After all, this will be crucial in Sotto’s career development.

“Playing in the NBL is a critical step in my basketball journey and now that I have fulfilled my qualifier window and OQT commitments to the National Team, I want to focus on playing well for the Adelaide 36ers and focus 1000-percent on giving the 36ers all my best,” he said.

Sotto made a huge impact in Gilas’ campaign in the FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers and Olympic Qualifying Tournament.

The 19-year still assured that his exposure in Australia will allow him to come back with national team much stronger and wiser.

I will be one of their loudest fans!
