Kai Sotto reportedly not invited to join Gilas for Asian Games

KAI Sotto was reportedly not invited to join Gilas Pilipinas for the 2026 Asian Games, where the national team suffered its worst finish in the competition.

An informant told Fastbreak columnist Homer Sayson that no one from the national team had asked Sotto to participate in the continental tournament.

“An informant inside the player’s camp told me that nobody asked Kai Sotto to play in the 2026 Asian Games,” Sayson said.

Sayson also claimed that he sought clarification from PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial and Gilas head coach Tim Cone regarding Sotto’s absence from the team’s plans.

“I asked both PBA commissioner Willie Marcial and Gilas coach Tim Cone why was that the case?” he said. “Both responded with cricket sounds.”

Sotto was included in the initial list of players submitted to the Asian Games organizers but did not eventually suit up for Gilas in the tournament.

The Philippines finished the group stage with a 1-2 record and failed to advance to the quarterfinals. (By the Staff)
