Former national team member Kelly Williams took to Instagram to offer words of encouragement to Gilas Pilipinas just hours before the start of their 2023 FIBA World Cup campaign.
In his post, Williams encouraged the Gilas players to don the national team jersey with pride, emphasizing that representing the country is a privilege for any athlete.
“Good luck to Gilas as they begin their World Cup campaign tonight!” the PBA veteran wrote on his post. “Donning the 🇵🇠jersey is an honor and a privilege not many experience in their career. Wear it as proudly as we are of each of you and the flag.”
“Give ‘em hell, Laban Pilipinas,” the 41-year-old forward said.
Williams had represented the country in several international competitions, with his last appearance for Gilas occurring during the 2011 FIBA Asia Championships. (MJD)
