Kevin Durant urges content creators to lessen chit chat and just play hoops

KEVIN Durant has challenged NBA content creators, including players themselves, to lessen talking and just play hoops.

The NBA superstar took to social media to question why so many basketball personalities including former NBA players who have transitioned into podcasts and digital content creators – spend their time discussing the game instead of actually getting back on the court.

“All these NBA content creators do is think about new topics to talk about for content,” Durant wrote. “I ain’t heard nan one of them say let’s play 5 on 5 and film it for the channel.”

Durant’s post comes at a time when former NBA players have become some of the biggest voices in basketball media.

Gilbert Arenas has built a major following through Gil’s Arena, where former NBA players and basketball personalities regularly debate the league’s biggest stories. Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson have also become prominent figures in basketball media through All The Smoke, while Quentin Richardson and Darius Miles have continued their basketball conversations through Knuckleheads.

Other former and current NBA players, including JJ Redick and Paul George, have also entered the podcast and digital content space, giving fans direct access to conversations, stories and debates from people who have actually played the game.

But Durant appears to want something different.

Instead of another discussion about player rankings, GOAT debates, trades or legacies, the two-time NBA champion wants to see these basketball personalities lace up their sneakers and actually play.

And considering the number of former NBA players now sitting behind microphones and cameras, KD’s suggestion could make for some entertaining content.

Imagine Arenas, Barnes, Jackson, Quentin Richardson, Darius Miles, Brandon Jennings and other former NBA players splitting into teams and settling some of their basketball debates the old-fashioned way on the court.

For Durant, the message was simple: enough talking about basketball. Let’s see the content creators actually play it. (Jesus Nathaniel Valdez)
