Kim Fajardo, Ara Galang begs off from national team

F2 Logistics Cargo Movers’ Kim Fajardo and Ara Galang have begged off from the national women’s volleyball team that its preparing for two international tournaments later this year.

Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) national team commission chair Tonyboy Liao told The Daily Tribune that the two former DLSU Lady Spikers players were injured.

Galang and Fajardo were among the late additions to the national pool aside from Dindin Santiago-Manabat, Dawn Macandili, Kim Dy, Rhea Dimaculangan, Tin Tiamzon and Marjana Philips.

Liao also said that Alyssa Valdez, Jia Morado and Kat Tolentino have signified their intention to join the national team but it is up to the coaching staff if they will be called up.

“(Creamline team manager) Alan Acero texted me the other day regarding Alyssa and Jia. He was asking me regarding the training, I told him that we have to wait because we are not yet sure if they will be included in the bubble training,” Liao said.

“Kat also expressed her interest to join the pool but her only issue is if she will be allowed to leave the training bubble for her scheduled second dose of anti-coronavirus vaccine,” he added. “I told her we’ll address that once you receive your call-up to join the pool.”

Valdez, Morado and Tolentino skipped the tryout for health and safety reasons as they were preparing for their respective campaigns in the Premier Volleyball League.

The training pool is set to open a five-week camp before leaving for Nakhon Ratchasima in Thailand to compete in the Asian Club from 1 to 7 October.

After that, they will gear up for the Asian Seniors from 24 to 30 October.
