Kiyomi Watanabe bags 1st silver prize for PH
Kiyomi Watanabe took home the first-ever silver medal for the Philippines in the 2018 Asian Games -63 kg judo competition on Thursday.
The Fil-Japanese judoka dispatched Thailand’s Orapin Senatham in the quarterfinals and Mongolia’s Gankhaich Bold in the semifinals to advanced in the finals round.
Watanabe would then bow out to her rival Nabekura Nami of Japan, blowing her chance to claim the first spot.
Watanabe’s win improved the country’s medal haul to four gold prizes, one silver, and 13 bronzes.
