Knicks trade Anthony for OKC’s Kanter, McDermott & future draft pick
The New York Knicks are shipping star forward Carmelo Anthony to Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for Enes Kanter, Doug McDermott and a future draft pick.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski first reported the deal pending its completion on Monday while The Vertical’s Shams Charania gave the details of what the Knicks will be receiving in letting go of Anthony.
With the trade, Anthony will join a retooled OKC line-up that includes Paul George and reigning MVP Russell Westbrook.
Anthony is a 10-time All Star and is expected to boost a Thunder team in the ultra-competitive Western Conference that is currently dominated by the defending champion Golden State Warriors.
Aside from Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant and the rest of the Warriors, the Houston Rockets and the San Antonio Spurs are expected to contend for the title in the upcoming season set to unfold next month.
Interestingly, the Thunder are set to host the Knicks in their season opening game.
