Sports insider Snow Badua revealed that professional teams in Korea and Australia are interested in signing Ginebra guard Scottie Thompson.
In a series of posts on Saturday, Badua said that foreign teams believe that Thompson can attract a huge following given his popularity among Filipino basketball fans.
“Kuliglig told me (same guy who tipped me on Ricci Rivero contract before), Korea is willing to offer a basic pay of P2.5M per month while Australia is keen on offering more as they believe Filipinos provide big draw to the NBL, as what they felt when Kai Sotto was there,” Badua posted on X.
The sports insider added that Australia’s National Basketball League (NBL) felt that they had lost a lot of social media followers since Kai Sotto’s departure. Sotto played two seasons in the NBL for the Adelaide 36ers.
“NBL is said to have felt the departure of Kai as their social media accounts became bland after Pinoys stopped commenting and viewing their socmed accounts,” Badua added. “And Australian officials think Scottie can bring in bigger impact to them.”
Thompson’s camp has yet to respond to these rumors. (MJD)
