LA Clippers Nabs Rajon Rondo, Ships Williams to Atlanta
After failing its bid to acquire Kyle Lowry from the Toronto Raptors, Los Angeles Clippers secured the services of veteran guard Rajon Rondo from Atlanta Hawks.
In a trade that was finalized before the close of the 2020-2021 NBA Season trade deadline on Thursday (Friday in the Philippines), the Clippers send Lou Williams to the Hawks for Rondo.
Rondo, who was part of the 2020 NBA champion team Los Angeles Lakers, is expected to provide boost to the Clippers backcourt as they aim to contend for title.
Williams, a many-time Sixth Man of the Year awardee, is also a great addition to the young guard rotation of the Hawks, which is also favored to reach the Eastern Conference playoffs.
The Clippers were one of the teams eyeing Lowry in his hopes to team him up with former Raptors teammates Kawhi Leonard and Serge Ibaka.
Leonard, Ibaka and Lowry were part of the Toronto Raptors squad that captured the 2019 NBA championship against Golden State Warriors.
