Lady Altas Claim Last Spot for NCAA Semifinals
Perpetual Lady Altas victorously defeated the JRU Lady Bombers in four sets to clinch the Final Four spot in the NCAA Season 94 women’s volleyball at the Filoil Flying V Center, San Juan this Thursday afternoon.
The Lady Altas showed domination during the first set with an 8-3 lead. Charina Scott’s kill block blew the score up to a 19-7 advantage. The first set finished with a score of 25-13 in favor of Perpetual.
For the second set, the Lady Bombers took over the Lady Altas in a 6-1 run to end the set in their favor. Karen Montojo’s consecutive aces gave JRU the second set by the score of 25-19.
It was an intense third set for both teams when they tied at 11-11. Dolly Versoza’s attack led JRU to 20-22 but wasn’t enough to take over Perpetual. The Lady Atlas’ net defense secured the third set by 25-21.
Perpetual showed eagerness to take the fourth set but the Lady Bombers refused to make it easy by forcing a tie at 8. An attack from Cindy Imbo led the Perpetual to a match point and an error from JRU gave them their triumph at 25-14.
The Lady Atlas emerged from the eliminations with a standing of 6-3 and will face the top seed De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde Lady Blazers at the Semifinals match on January 22.
