Perpetual Help seeks to close in on unbeaten Arellano University and San Beda as it clashes with Emilio Aguinaldo College today in the women’s division of the 93rd NCAA volleyball tournament at the Filoil Arena in San Juan City.

The Lady Altas are currently at joint third with the St. Benilde Lady Blazers on 2-1 (win-loss) records following a 25-22, 25-23, 7-25, 18-25, 15-11 win over the San Sebastian Lady Stags Monday and a victory in their 11 a.m. duel with the Lady Generals, who are winless in three outings, will send the former to solo No. 3.

AU, the defending champion, leads the way with a 4-0 mark while San Beda is closely behind with an equally pristine 3-0 card.

Perpetual Help coach Macky Carino said his team needs to play with consistency.

“We can’t just play tough in just one or two sets and play bad in the next one or two. We should be consistently working hard all game,” he said.

Letran (1-2) and Lyceum of the Phl U (1-2), meanwhile, go for their second win as the two faces off at 2 p.m.

In men’s play, Perpetual Help aims to rejoin AU at the helm as the former guns for win No. 4 against EAC at 9:30 a.m.

The Altas, last year’s losing finalists who are tipped to win it all this year after keeping the core of their team from a season ago, roared to a third win in row after turning back the Stags, 25-19, 25-23, 25-23, Monday.
