Lady Tams squashes UE in Season 82 opener

FEU began their Season 82 campaign on a stellar note.

The Lady Tamaraws gave the UE Lady Warriors a strong beating in a three-set sweep, 25-9, 25-20, 25-17, in the season opener of this year’s UAAP women’s division volleyball tournament on March 3, Tuesday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

FEU proved to be too hot to handle in the first set with a 25-9 start, followed up by an unfazed 25-20 follow-up in the second set.

However, the Red Warriors came with an awakening in the third set with a 7-3 advantage.

UE’s momentum died down eventually when the Tams relied on their balance attack. From a 20-16 edge, FEU closed the show with a 6-1 rally.

Veteran middle Jeanette Villareal led the Lady Tams with 11 points while skipper Angel Cayuna orchestrated the team’s system with 18 excellent sets.

Lycya Ebon and Sheen Gallentes registered nine apiece, while Cza Carandang settled with eight points.

On the other hand, Mary Ann Mendrez led UE with 13 points.
