As expected, Pocari Sweat banked on its championship experience to rebound from a first set deficit to repulse BaliPure, 22-25, 25-22, 25-22, 26-24 win and a step closer to the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference crown at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig last night.
With import Krystal Rivers finally suit up, finishing with 20 points for the Lady Warriors who were tentative in the first set, but showed a power game in the next three sets to seal the win.
The Lady Warriors will try to finish the series with Game Two on Tuesday.
Creamline, meanwhile, dominated Power Smashers, 25-20, 25-18, 25-15 victory in Game One of the battle for third.
Alyssa Valdez and Thai import Kuttika Kaewpin and American reinforcement Laura Schaudt provided a big game for the Cool Smashers, who were eliminated by Water Defenders in their do-or-die match last Thursday, vented their ire on Power Smashers.
Valdez came up with 21 hits, including 17 attack points and 12 digs, while Kaewpin added 13 hits and Schaudt finished with 11 points, while adding 12 digs.
Cignal HD has moved to a win away from collecting the inaugural PBL crown in the league, by besting top seed Air Force, 18-25, 25-22, 25-16, 25-19 in the men’s division. (Emile Rios)
