Top rookie Camilla Lamina will temporarily leave Galeries Tower Highrisers to report for national team duty with Alas Pilipinas Women ahead of the upcoming SEA V.League tournaments and the 20th Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games in Japan.
The former National University Lady Bulldogs standout became the 23rd player called up to the national squad as preparations continue for the Philippines’ busy international schedule.
Lamina received the call-up after making first and only appearance for the Highrisers during their win over Farm Fresh Foxies in the PVL On Tour on Saturday, where she tallied seven excellent sets off the bench.
Under league rules, players selected for national team duty are no longer allowed to continue competing in the PVL On Tour to avoid overlapping commitments, forcing Lamina to shift her focus to Alas Pilipinas’ training camp.
The young setter is expected to join national team captain Jia De Guzman and Akari playmaker Marionne Alba in the setter rotation as Alas Pilipinas continues to build chemistry for its international campaigns. (AC)
