LeBron Powers LA Lakers Past Memphis
LeBron James came up big in the fourth quarter as Los Angeles Lakers cruised to a 108-94 victory over Memphis Grizzlies in the 2020-2021 NBA Season on Sunday night (Monday in the Philippines) at the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tennessee.
Holding to a two-point edge entering the fourth quarter, James drained seven straights points followed by a three-pointer from Wesley Matthews to put the defending champions Lakers up 92-83.
The Grizzlies had its last stand as it came to as close as 90-95 but conversions from Anthony Davis and James gave the Lakers its largest lead at 108-92 following a triple by Alfonzo McKinnie.
James finished the match with near triple-double 22 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists, while Davis added 17 points and nine rebounds as the Lakers moved up to 5-2 win-loss record.
Montrezl Harrell tallied 16 points and nine rebounds, Wesley Matthews chipped in 14 markers, while Kyle Kuzma and Dennis Schroder ended up with 11 markers each for Los Angeles.
Kyle Anderson top-scored with 18 points, while Jonas Valanciunas and Tyus Jones contributed 14 markers apiece as the Grizzlies slumped to 2-4 win-loss record.
Meanwhile, Jason Tatum rises in the occassion on both ends of the court in the endgame as Boston Celtics (4-3) escaped with a 122-120 victory over Detroit Pistons (1-5).
Tatum surged the Celtics ahead for good with a game-winning basket with 2.9 seconds left before coming up with a block on the three-point try by Pistons’ Blake Griffin to escape with a win.
In other results, Denver Nuggets (2-4) walloped Minnesota Timberwolves (2-4), 124-109, while Utah Jazz (4-2) toppled San Antonio Spurs (2-4), 130-109.
