Letran athletic director opposes coaching change?
Colegio de San Juan de Letran Knights athletic director Fr. Victor Calvo, OP is not a fan of rumors that there will be a coaching change in the school’s men’s basketball team.
In a social media post on Thursday evening, Calvo expressed his refusal to remove Knights head coach Bonnie Tan in lieu of University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers mentor Aldin Ayo.
“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” Calvo wrote on his Twitter account.
Sought for a comment, Calvo politely declined to Fast Break PH as he said that there was a “gag order” from discussing the rumor.
“May gag order from basketball gods,” Calvo replied.
With the UAAP Board of Directors mulling to slap a suspension or ban on Ayo for his controversial “Sorsogon Bubble” there were rumors that there be an exchange in coaching assignments between him and Tan.
Ayo, a Letran alumnus, has previously steered the Knights to NCAA championship before moving to De La Salle University Green Archers, where he won an UAAP title.
Tan, who is a Thomasian, steered the Knights to a championship in NCAA Season 94 despite playing with an All-Filipino lineup.
