Inter Miami CF barged to the finals of the 2023 Leagues Cup after a 4-1 victory over Philadelphia Union in the semifinals on Tuesday night (Wednesday, Manila time) at the Subaru Park in Chester, Pennsylvania.
Josef Martínez, Lionel Messi, and Jordi Alba scored a goal each in the opening half, while David Ruíz added another hit late in the game for Inter Miami.
Inter Miami did not waste time taking the upper hand, as Martínez knocked in a right footed shot from the right side of the box to the bottom left corner in the third minute.
Messi doubled the advantage in the 19th minute as he converted a left-footed shot from outside the box to the bottom right corner of the goal.
Inter Miami put more separation just before the halftime break as Alba knocked down a left-footer shot from the center to make it a 3-0 score.
Alejandro Bedoya managed to pull one back for Philadelphia in the 73rd minute, but Ruíz answered back with a goal 11 minutes later to make it a three-goal lead for Inter Miami.
Inter Miami will face the winner of the Monterrey-Nashville semifinals in the championship round slated for Saturday night (Sunday, Manila time).
