Rashawn MaCarthy exploded for 30 points as he led Blackwater to a 102-97 victory over a slumping Converge side on Wednesday in the PBA on Tour preseason games at the Ynares Arena in Pasig City.
McCarthy went 5-for-7 from the perimeter and got five rebounds as he matched the FiberXers’ Justin Arana point-for-point.
He also helped fend off Converge’s uprising in the fourth quarter, wherein the FiberXers managed to fight to within 86-91 with barely four minutes remaining.
Fortunately, the Bossing unleaded a 7-1 retaliation for an 11-point gap heading to the end.
“We just want to bounce back from that game against Northport; we were just locked in from the beginning,” said McCarthy. “I hit my first shot and got a good rhythm from there. I’m just happy to get the win.”
“We’re just trying to get some consistency, take the good things that we did, and bring it to our next game.”
Baser Amer and Rey Suerte each scored 12 for Blackwater, which now holds a 3-2 record.
Meanwhile, Converge fell to 1-3.
