Magic bunot’ Salva thankful for Black’s trust after Game 2 heroics

Thanks to “magic bunot” in Nico Salva, Meralco was able to weather a major third-quarter run by Ginebra in Game 2 of their 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup Finals battle on Friday night.

Salva, who did not see action in the series opener last Wednesday, sank a mid-range jumper at the 8:31-mark–a shot that got him going,

A few possessions later, he drilled back-to-back jumpers that pushed Meralco’s lead, 70-61.

Ginebra managed to tie the game at 70 but the Bolts immediately bounced back with Salva hitting a three-pointer to push his team ahead, 76-72, with 1:48 on the clock.

Salva scored all of his 9 points in that period, and the spark he gave truly helped the Bolts get the 104-102 win.

The 29-year-old forward is just elated to have delivered in such a grand stage. Moreover, he always makes sure to deliver for Meralco head coach Norman Black, who he won five UAAP championships with.

“Sobrang saya ng Finals. Sabi ko sa sarili ko na this is a dream for me to play and I’m very thankful kay Coach Norman for trusting me in this game,” said the six-year pro as this is his first Finals appearance with the Bolts.

“I’m thankful kay God because nabigyan ako ng opportunity to play in this atmosphere — Ginebra-Meralco Finals.”
